Bipasha Basu , born on January 7, 1979 is a Bollywood actress and a Supermodel. She also won the Tulips Miss Super Vivacious in the same contest. She now works in mainstream Bollywood films. Her first name means “Deep, dark desire.”  She is continually listed as one of Asia’s sexiest women, along with fellow stars Mallika Sherawat and Aishwarya Rai.

In an interview, she said that she had come into modeling and acting “quite by accident”.She had planned to learn chartered accountancy or study medicine. She said that she dropped the idea of doing medical studies because she fainted when attempting to dissect rats.As a child she was considered ugly because of her dark skin.

Basu is currently dating actor John Abraham, They have been dating since late 2002. She previously dated fellow Bollywood actors Milind Soman and Dino Morea.

In 2006, Basu claimed to have been harassed by organizers of the India Day Parade in Edison, New Jersey. Basu was initially scheduled to lead the parade on August 13, 2006. Basu eventually appeared on stage late, according to her, because of the harassment. She said, “I wanted to attend the parade, but I could not.” She explained that she was harassed physically and mentally in the car by two people who were taking her to the parade.

In November 2007, UK magazine Eastern Eye named Basu the “Sexiest Woman in Asia”.

On January 10, 2007, Basu danced with sex workers at a charity drive in order to raise AIDS awareness in India and promote safe-sex. It was  organised by Family Health International (FHI) and supported by the Heroes project, Avahan and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

This Bengali bombshell was bold enough to accept an unusual role in her debut film, Abbas Mustan’s “Ajnabee”, with Bobby Deol, Akshay Kumar & Kareena Kapoor. She played a married woman who goes all out to woo her husband’s married friend.

She regretted doing the controversial Calida advertisement. The truth is she was not very comfortable with my body. She was roped into doing it because her boyfriend Dino Morea and the ad-photographer, Prabhudda Dasgupta, who is a friend, were a part of the campaign.

The movie Godfather is her all-time favourite. “If I were a man, I’d love to have played the godfather.” Basu confesses. “I’ve seen the movie so many times. Another favourite is Masoom. I love movies that deal with human emotions, movies with which you can identify. “
